Jac Godfrey

Essex - Yoga Elder

Jacqueline's yoga journey began with Ashtanga yoga in 2000, which hugely helped her stiffness from sitting long hours at a desk, as well as being wonderful for her mind and stress release.
Her curiosity was ignited and she found herself quickly devouring any books which could shed more light on the essence of yoga (the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the Autobiography of a Yogi to name a few). In 2006 she took a sabbatical from her job in the law and traveled to India to immerse fully in Yoga and also gained her initial yoga teaching certificate with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta school.
Since that time, Jacqueline has continued to study all aspects of yoga, gaining further experience and certifications, alongside teaching. She has a particular interest in Sanskrit as a language and as a tool for meditative and transformative practices. Jacqueline is also certified as a teacher of Jivamukti Yoga, which combines a rigorous physical hatha practice with an equally rigorous spiritual practice using philosophy, sanskrit chanting and meditation.

Jacqueline is a Level 3 Ayurvedic Yoga Massage practitioner, in which she uses her 2 decades of body-work to intuit the best way to work with individual clients, using ancient methods of Ayurvedic oil massage (deep tissue) and
The Yoga Mandiram is the yoga school which Jacqueline established and offers Yoga Teacher Trainings at both 200 hours (foundational) and 300 hour (advanced) level, as well as a certification in Yin Yoga.
Since 2009, Jacqueline has offered many yoga and meditation retreats both in the UK and globally, which have accrued a growing community of followers - these retreats have included : Suffolk, India, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Bali and Morocco.
Ultimately, Jacqueline is known for her down to earth and friendly approach.
To quote one of her yoga teacher colleagues :
"She has dedicated her life to Yoga for many years and is loved by her students and peers. For me it is her humbleness that stands out as a quality I see rarely and admire so much. I certainly see Jac as a person I would go to for spiritual advice and guidance".
